Education and Early Career
Eric Aubier began his musical studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris at the age of 14 under the guidance of Maurice André, quickly becoming the youngest graduate of this institution with three first prizes. He also won awards in various international competitions such as those Prague, Paris and Toulon.

Professional Career

At 19, Eric was appointed principal trumpet of the Paris Opera Orchestra by Rolf Liebermann. Following this, he dedicated himself fully to an international concert and teaching career. He launched his career with an exceptional recording of French concertos by Henri Tomasi, André Jolivet, and Alfred Désenclos with the Paris Opera Orchestra, which has since become authoritative worldwide.

Contribution to Contemporary Repertoire

Eric Aubier has created and recorded about fifteen concertos by contemporary composers, stimulating the composition of works by Thierry Escaich, Karol Beffa, Martin Matalon, and Nicolas Bacri. He has also recorded concertos by neo-classical composers Arvo Pärt and Jaan Rääts. These collaborations have significantly enriched the trumpet repertoire.

Teaching and Influence

Until 2025 Eric was a Professor at the Haute École de Musique Vaud/Valais/Fribourg in Lausanne and at the CRR de Rueil-Malmaison. Now he is visiting Professor at Beijing China Conservatory and the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he was made an Honorary Doctor in 2016. He regularly gives international master classes, including at the Juilliard School, the Curtis Institute, and in various institutions across Korea, Japan, China, South America, and Europe. Eric Aubier inspires new generations of trumpeters worldwide through his performances and teaching. Some of his students are now professors at the CNSM of Paris and soloists in the world’s leading orchestras.

Discography and Awards

His discography includes over 200 works, with recordings awarded the Diapason d’Or, Choc de Classica, and Record Geijutsu. His contributions to the trumpet repertoire, from baroque to contemporary, are internationally recognized, especially his recordings for prestigious labels such as Sony Classical, Universal, and IndéSENS Calliope, for whom he exclusively records.

International Commitments

Eric Aubier is regularly invited to sit on the juries of international competitions, reflecting his status as an iconic figure in the world of the trumpet. International competitions bearing his name in Latin America and France attest to his considerable influence.

Top News

Eric will premiere Wynton Marsalis’s concerto in South America (Rio de Janeiro) in October 2026, and in 2027 he will premiere it in France in Besançon and record it for the Indesens label.
In September 2026 he will be a professor for Bachelor and Master degrees at the Forum Musikae School of Music in Madrid, Spain.
